How to Match Crown Styles to Different Pageant Categories

Not every pageant category calls for the same crown. A teen queen on a local stage and a national titleholder under arena lights have completely different needs — and the crown should reflect that.

Miss categories (national level). Tall dramatic silhouettes with five to seven peaks. Wide radial spreads or vaulted cathedral peaks with large accent stones. Height matters: twelve inches or more.

Teen and Junior Miss. Tall but softer. Seven-peak domed or sweeping arched silhouettes. The frame should photograph well but not overpower a younger face.

Princess and Pre-Teen. Lower profiles. Five-peak tiaras with graduated heights. Smaller stones, lighter frame.

Photogenic categories. Open silhouette that frames the face. Clear or light pink crystals reflect light onto the skin.

When in doubt, ask. We have helped directors match crowns to categories for twenty-six years.
